Longmont City Council This petition requests municipal permission for residents of Longmont, Colorado to raise a small number of hens only, no roosters, in their backyards, subject to reasonable controls and regulations. Poultry raising (particularly egg laying chickens) has been a long standing tradition in almost every part of the world for thousands of years. The practice is an environmentally friendly hobby with no serious negative impacts on neighbourhoods and many benefits and positive results. Many cities across Colorado have successfully and reasonably dealt with the matter of urban poultry and the City of Longmont should adopt one of these well thought out models from another city. We, the undersigned, hereby petition the City of Longmont to amend its bylaws to permit residents to raise poultry on private property. Sincerely,

Common sense regulations are all we need. Neighbors have dogs that bark way more than a few hens ever would.

Fresh eggs right in my own backyard would be amazing. Denver allows it and so should we. It's just chickens, not a farm!
