There is a definite need for a dedicated outdoor pickleball facility in Henrico County. This sport is suitable for virtually everyone from age 5 to 85+ as it is easy to learn, but still challenging because the intensity level increases as the players’ skills do. Pickle ball is an extremely social sport, which promotes adaptability, resilience and socialization. This sport is touted as the fastest growing sport in the nation and it provides new opportunities to meet new people with a shared interest. Everyone can gain unexpected benefits along the way. Pickleball is truly enjoyed by people of all ages. The game has a number of health benefits to offer. It’s been known to boost immunity, it revs up energy levels, it lowers blood pressure levels along with strengthening and relaxing muscles. Pickle ball is a sport, which has a primary goal – fun and that’s an extremely healthful objective. This is the only game, where you can have an 15 year old boy, a 65 year old grandfather, a pregnant woman and 10 years old daughter all playing a Pickleball game on the same court together, and all are having fun. This uniqueness makes a Pickleball game so much fun. While people of all ages enjoy pickleball, it has become exceptionally popular with the baby boomer generation. However, pickleball is gaining steam with younger players as well. Teen tournaments are popping up in cities around the country, and older advocates of the game are teaching young people how to play. Pickleball was, after all, invented as a game for the whole family. Players are drawn to the game due to the fast pace of the game and low impact on joints. Players are also drawn to meeting new people and the camaraderie of their peers. There is a large universe of Henrico residents that play pickleball and often travel to other surrounding venues outside of Henrico County in order to play.
