Chickens are not only great for eggs but are affectionate, adorable pets. They also are great for pest control and eat so many bugs and ticks which could otherwise spread disease

Chickens are actually less of a nuisance and danger than your household dog or cat. If they are contained, limited to a certain number and no roosters, most people wouldn't even realize they are there. They are easy to maintain and don't smell. No logical reason why they shouldn't be allowed for personal consumption of eggs.

I believe that allowing up to 12 chickens (the number indicated in this petition) would allow families to provide a source of food for their families.

I can not believe that Camden is so out of touch that they would even to try to enforce a code from 1981. Sinse CC doesn't have a housing inspector, who is going to be doing these so called inspections? CC is highly immersed in 4H and to tell kids that they can't have chickens in town in town is ludacris at best, to allow some people in town the privilege of raising chicken in town and not others is showing power of favoritism what money can do for you, in town that has always been there,
I say yes to chickens.

Had “secret” chickens in town Camden for 5 years. Great pets with the bonus of eggs and pest insect control.

We had chickens in Delphi because we had the understanding we were allowed. I was wrong and had to give my chickens away! It was for our daughter’s 4-H. Hope this goes through. Kids can learn so much and give them responsibility for another life. Besides they can see the value of hard work.

Even the city of Indianapolis allows urban chicken farming. They have rules as to number of chickens, etc but they allow it officially in their zoning laws. Camden being a rural community should definitely allow this. Please see Marion County Code of Ordinances Sec. 743-306 subsection W and Table 743-306-3

Willing to pay fee for permit. As well as file the hens on personal property taxes in the Assessors office but minus inspections of my property by someone as out of touch as the original ordinance.
Carroll county doesn’t even have a building inspector for houses to make sure they are up to code.
Let us have them
