On Wednesday the 7th September 2011, a 19 year old couple were robbed of belongings by armed muggers, in the Tesco walk way next to Grove Lea primary school - at around 3:40pm in broad daylight. Due to the councils lack of support and reluctance to put up CCTV, the investigation to identify the suspects is still going on. This walk way is frequently occupied by locals, shoppers and school children, that age between 7 and 16. As a community, this is expected to be a safe area, not one where passers by are forced to part with their belongings whilst being threatened with guns. With your support we can get CCTV placed, which will ensure the safety of locals and children alike. Please sign this petition to help us get this under way.
Since starting this petition we have discovered that our mugging was not the first. How many robberies are going to happen until something is done? Why is the council so reluctant to make the community and town, as a whole, a safer place? With your support we can hopefully draw enough attention to this fact and make something happen. Thank you!
