Diego is a nice guy and I doubt this was ever meant to be this serious. It was a dangerous joke to make but a felony is too far.

Thank you all for stepping up and advocating for my son Diego. As you have all stated, we know that Diego is a great young man.
Unfortunately for him, a simple private conversation was taken out of context and blossomed to what it is today. I know that Diego appreciates the way this has evolved, and will be moving forward accordingly, and postitively. Just like he always does.

I have known Diego through a friend for a long time. Spent a lot of time with him. My heart broke when I saw his name in the news article cause I knew it had to be a mistake. Diego could never hurt a fly. I would trust him with my life.

Diego's a bright kid, I always saw him offering his help and making others laugh. No way he could have ever INTENTIONALLY meant something like this seriously.

Diego would have NEVER hurt anybody. He might be a giant but he is also gentle, and wouldn't be the face of a threat or act of violence. I think the police and the school administation have blown this out of proportion. Knowing Diego personally and being good friends with him at Bothell leads me to believe that the "alleged" threat is unrealistic. It was just some trashtalk that was interpreted the wrong way.

I played football with Diego in high school for two years and have known him since my sophomore year in high school. He is a good kid who just made a mistake. In my opinion, there is no way that this was a serious message.

I have known Diego since before he was born and so have many people in my family. he is a wonderful boy very loved by his family and many other friends. He made a mistake and he is teafully sorry im certain..Love this young man we are here for you.

Thank you all for your kind words and loving support of my son. He is indeed a kind hearted person and unfortunately, his efforts to defend himself were grossly taken out of context. I understand the need to be hyper vigilant in some cases, however, this is not one of them. Diego is a trustworthy individual always has been and always will be. I don't think this just because he is my son, I know this from feedback prior to this incident. Thank you again. Kindly, His Mommy.

I know Diego personally and know he would never do something like this. He's a genuinely good person, amazing guy to be around and something like this is not within his character
