My neighbours and I in Bristol Estate find ourselves being put in a very difficult situation by the Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) in England. We are being forced to pay for some unnecessary building works that have been imposed on us by them. Our opinions have never been taken into account and now they want us to pay a sum that exceeds £27,250 per flat.

Please help us rise at 1,200 signatures by June, so that they can discuss this issue in the Council's agenda.

We the undersigned petition BHCC to:

Review the contractual relationship and implementation of contracts between BHCC and those who have leased property from the council under right to buy legislation.

In particular we request that a comprehensive and public investigation be held into:

1) Accuracy and validity of Annual Service Charges, cyclical repairs and redecoration

2)The charges for Major works, in particular the recent city wide cladding programme, wholesale roof and window replacement , and repair, refurbishment and replacement of lifts.

We request that any investigatory body includes experts independent of BHCC and that the terms of reference include:

1_The necessity of the work carried out

2_The validity of the consultation process

3_Value for money, the tendering process and actual costs

4_The standard of the works carried out
