As a current student at LAE over the year this issue has not been resolved, we were told that we would have the opportunity to pray during our lunch periods but the closest place is westfield yet it is a 20minute walk there and then back. When will we have time to eat our lunch or finish off work? We cannot compromise on prayer. Also as students there might not be enough space to accomodate a designated prayer room however teachers and SLT still have an issue with us praying individually? Why is that a problem?

I had the opportunity to come to your college, but I was heavily dissuaded by people around me because of things like the lack of a prayer room. What is so wrong with offering a classroom during lunch break?

During Year 11, I really wanted to go to LAE and spent a lot of time trying to ensure that I would be offered a place. Unfortunately that changed after hearing that I wouldn't be able to pray there. Praying is essential for us Muslims and comes before everything.

Really upsetting that students are having to beg and have had to make this petition to get a prayer space. This is a basic human right and this school needs to be much more understanding. Disgraceful.
