This is an original and phenomenal idea. And so modest - without any great cost. In an era when we are finally coming to acknowledge the contributions of women to society, even such a modest honor is terribly overdue. Mae West was more than an actress who dressed in pretty clothes and threw off some witty remarks. She used her writing and performing to address inequities in society that disadvantaged women, the working-class, African-Americans, and the LGB community. Personally she was extraordinarily kind to those in need. Publicly, she used her pen and her performances on stage and screen to offer wise observations about the human condition. Please take this very seriously. It would be an enormous contribution and illustrate that Los Angeles has a progressive and inclusive 21st century conscientiousness.
