I remember going to a wrestling math at Yuma High and Curly was wrestling unlimited first year varsity. I watched him pick up his opponent and body slam the dude---which is against the rules. Later on coach taught him to wrestle and he became State champ. Great guy, nice guy who put his heart into everything he did.

Absolutely agree that the stadium should be named after Curly. During his pro career he came to campus several times to encourage student athletes.

Last year wanting to approach the same idea in a reasonable manner, I chose to speak with the principal regarding the proposed idea and who shunned the idea by responding with the question, "why do you want to mess with tradition?"
I would bet a dollar to a donut that one out of 100 people can not tell you who Doan is or what he contributed to YUHS? Curley Culp achieved in YUHS football & wrestling (State Champ), ASU wrestling, & NFL Hall of Famer what no other Crim has ever accomplis-hed. This is the least Yuma can do for one of the greatest athletes to graduate from YUHS, if not the Greatest!

I am a twin, when I was a freshman he come up to me and said are you a #1, or 2. I said beg your pardon, he said your a twin right? I said yes,Oh my name is Curley I;m a 2 my sister Shirley is a 1, i'm a 2. all my freshman years when he saw me he would wave at me and say #2.he's been my hero ever since. years larer was watching Super Bowl 4 the New Orleans Vikings played the Kansas City Chiefs, chiefs came on the field 2nd.. 2nd player of out of the Dugout was #61 Curly Culp. and I;ve been # 1 Fan ever since. To me, Curley Culp is the Greatest Football Player.
