Yes i agree strongly that a well trained EFDA should be able to perform supragingival scaling on periodontally healthy patients. This would greatly help with patient Recall/Hygiene dilemma.

EFDAs would need additional formal training to perform supragingival scaling. With adequate training, I support this.

The shortage of RDHs in PA is alarming. Many dental offices around us have went months without an RDH. Other older dentists have just closed their offices because they can not find staff. This burden of care then shifts to other offices. Our office can no longer see our re-care patients every 6 months. We are scheduled out almost 12 months. We need legislation passed that will legally allow us to adapt to this new reality to better serve our patients.

I agree EFDA's should be allowed to do more. Hygiene should be able to use laser's as well.
