This museum provides information on an important aspect of Scottish history. The themes it shows visitors and the way in which they are delivered are unique as the information given to visitors appeals to adults and children. Therefore the museum needs stability of tenure in order to continue and expand its potential.

A great centre show casing a special period, with many enthusiastic staff and volunteers, but it's rather bulging at the seams and this is a fantastic opportunity to broaden the scope and provide even better facilities not only for the present displays and demonstrations but also new resources.

Scottish Crannog Centre is an invaluable catalyst for research, interpretation and protection of Crannog sites. The centre caters for all, from archaeology students who need to understand the function of the original structures through to tourists who are always inspired by visitor experience and school groups who benefit from the living history practical activities. I have brought many groups to the Crannog Centre from all over Europe and it has always been the catalyst for discussion. The lake fortresses of central/Eastern Europe (Biskupin, Arsaisi), the crannogs of Scotland, and all that lies in between. The relationship between how our ancestors built and lived on, above and around water should be interpreted and shared. Thank you Scottish Crannog Centre

To see and experience how ancient people lived, loved, cooked, slept, worked as craftsmen right before your eyes, makes the past far more 'alive' than any collection of museum objects or even 3D or multimedial information.

The Crannog is one of our favourite places to visit. We love the range of activities and being able to step back in time to see what life was like for our ancestors! Bigger the better.
