This is in reference to two brothers and a roommate. The oldest brother filed divorce against his wife for having an affair. He had a video proving his claims. His wife filed a ficticious story of abuse to gain free legal services. She claimed that abuse happened 2 weeks earlier.  Surprising she filed abuse charges after he informed her of his intentions to follow throught with the divorce.  He did not have a lawyer and went to court up against the Legal Director (wife's free legal services) and won. Not once, but got it dismissed twice in the same day. The action of filing for domestic abuse was a simple tactic to gain free representation. This saddens me, now there are victims out there not receiving the help due to someone manipulating the system. In court, for the adultery, the husband dropped the charges in order to make payment plans for the property, instead of having to pay in full. Payment would last 2 years. Now the ex-wife will not accept the payments and wants the property to sell at public auction so her dad can buy it at a lower price. The husbands has followed all the terms set in mediation but the wife has not. She is still holding onto some of his personal property which should have been turned over months ago. If the 2 brothers and roommate can no longer stay at the home, there will be others affected by this ignorant action. The older brother helps out with getting german shephers out of kill shelters and helps train adopted dogs from the shelters with their new owner(s). The ex-wife left behind 2 cats which he watches over. If they are kicked out, what will happen to the dogs from the shelters, their own animals? We are asking that the agency drops the woman from their free service since the divorce is over and no abuse has ever happened (they were married for 10 years until he caught her having an affair with his cousin). Plenty of women in this county need this agencyy's help and we feel that it is not fair that people support and donate money/time just for someone to abuse the system. This same women is using a free legal service to file a lawsuit against her former employer. She was terminated for harassing an African-American. Now she is suing for an enormous amount. Please sign this petition and e-mail the agency if you believe that services for abuse women should not be abused.  There needs to be some sort of merit involved to gain services that we donate to.  No abuse was ever proven, only that the judge stated it that the husband was using self defense.  It is a new era.  Men can be abused too.  Now the woman is using a system to continue her abuse, not only on her ex-husband but also to the victims out there that do not receive help becuase she is using up the time and money.  development@heartlyhouse.org
