The City Council And NCDC should focus all their efforts on funding this initiative. Political promises that provided new equipment to volunteer firefighters (who receive tax abatements) are shameful and discordant with fiscal responsibility.

I feel this is a necessity for our officers. They do put their life on the line. Maybe if the people on the city council had sons or daughters serving our community they would feel differently!

Sounds like a fixable problem. Fire a high-ranking councilman (one that can't manage budgets apparently) and use his/her salary to pay for the necessary goods. Get it done already.

This issue has been put off too long. We don't need to study it anymore. It's time to replace this antiquated system with one that is reliable.
