I find the FEHD funny and ineffective. When took the course and exam for food safety, I thought the standards they were teaching to be very poor. Hotels have higher standards, and not a single American restaurant would pass if they only minimally followed the HK standard. But yet they get hyper sensitive about zoning and fire code... Standards and definition of public space needs to change, but I'm not optimistic about it

These small, unobtrusive spaces add a flavour to HK which is very special. The misguided use of inappropriate and outdated legislation is a sad indictment of our leaders. If a licence is what it takes, and a few dollars to appease the bureaucracy, so be it.
