The purpose of a doctor is to treat an illness. The purpose of insurance is to aid those in affording the healthcare required TOO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE. This law should be made and passed to ensure those get the healthcare they require.

I work in a medical office and see patients denied care by insurance companies every day, contrary to doctors recommendation. I see the hoops medical professionals have to jump through in order to convince insurance to cover needed care. I've seen the countless prior auths for medications and the appeals forms that have to be filled out so that Diabetic patients can receive life saving medications. So, I wholeheartedly agree that it should be the caring physicians who should make the medical decisions, NOT some paper pusher at the insurance company who is trying to find any way possible NOT to cover care so the insurance company can make money. (In some cases AI is now being used to review charts and make recommendations, which us abhorrent to me.) Patients deserve better. When you are fighting for your life you shouldn't have to be worrying about paying your bills. You pay your premiums, the doctor makes a medically necessary decision, the insurance company should pay for the care you need. End of story! I hope that Gabriel's Bill is taken up by the legislature and passed into law. It is time for the insurance ridiculous games to stop and for patients to get the care they deserve.

Delay in coverage truly is a matter of life (or quality of life) and death.

Arbitrary decisions by an insurance company shouldn't determine the healthcare available to those who need it.

Agree to all of this. Their doctor knows their patient best. NOT the insurance company!
