It is my belief that we CAN help stop bullying in schools as it is becoming a major issue. I think we should make an extensive "Compassion Workshop" mandatory as ONE elective in our school systems. Once while in junior high and again as a freshman in high school. We need more than just 45 minutes in one class to teach our children the severe consequences of bullying. How are our children going to learn if we, as adults and teachers, don't lead by example. Letting them know we do care. After all, that is our job. If we don't stop it now and send children out in the world believing it's alright to be mean to people all we are doing is breeding bitterness.
