A person with these views shouldn’t be in the field of education where she has the opportunity to leave an impression.

I am highly disgusted by this behavior. I am signing this petition for Cindy Anderson to be fired as, unfortunately, the job is not done, there are several other faculty members that need to be fired as well. Several students in the past have dealt with her racist remarks for years but change is needed and change is needed now. Had this been a black teacher, she would have been fired YEARS ago. So I don’t care if her twitter account was hacked. Her saying racist remarks to students faces isn’t okay either. This racism is not only shown in Wylie High School, it’s the whole Wylie ISD; this is appalling. I’m embarrassed to call this place my school. If this is what AHMO and the WYLIE WAY days are about, then I want absolutely nothing to do with it. Getting up to got to school and being disrespected by students is one thing I can handle, however, the homophobia and racism by faculty members is one thing I will not stand for. Change is necessary, there is no reason why students should be able to wear maga hats around school meanwhile, black students that wear durags are a threat. At Wylie High, teachers will address dress code before they appropriately deal with racist students and that says a lot.

She took a stand on social media and someone who shapes young minds and is around all kinds of various races should act more professional and be more open minded. It won’t be hard to find someone who is better suited to be around young minds of various races!

I went to high school in Wylie ISD from 2004 to 2009. As a queer kid in a small, conservative town, I was used to feeling like a bit of an outsider.
But in Cindy Anderson's class, I was a target of homophobic comments on a regular basis.
Imagine my complete and utter lack of surprise when I got on Twitter tonight to find Wylie trending because of this vile, racist tweet she liked.
Cindy Anderson, a decades-long English teacher at Wylie High School, claims she was hacked. But even if that were true (and we all know it's not), she should still be fired for the pattern of abuse she has inflicted on me and her other marginalized students over the years.
On multiple occasions, she used the phrase, "That's gay." She would then turn to me, reach out her hand in my direction, and then while gesturing it in a circle at me add, "Not that there is anything...WRONG...with that." It was obvious to everyone she thought it was wrong.
She asked once if the class had ever seen that episode from Seinfeld in a thinly-veiled attempt to disguise her bullying as a harmless joke.
It was not harmless. It is one of my most painful memories from a very painful time in my life as a queer person.
I stand with the students and alumni of Wylie High School who are calling for Virdie Montgomery to fire Cindy Anderson immediately.
I may not have been courageous enough to stand up to you back then, Mrs. Anderson. But this queer kid grew up and found their voice.
