The town council keeps pushing the demolition plans forward despite the public outcry. I am exhausted by the constant uphill battle to protect our tree but I am not walking away from this fight.

The momentum behind this effort has shifted from a quiet ripple into something that the town council can no longer ignore. It has been an exhausting week of defending this tree, but seeing this level of public backing gives me the resolve to keep pushing forward.

This tree is older than I am, meaning I grew up with this tree. It has provided us with a wonderful Christmas tree every year, complete with a lighting ceremony. To cut it down so someone can see the public toilets is just asinine.
I feel the tree is a landmark and should not come down. It is not dead I stood under it and looked the tree on the other side of the building has more dead in it. If people need a restroom they will find it without a big sign.
This has been an icon of Christmas in West Liberty for all my life. some want it cut down to help restoration of town hall, but town hall wouldn't be the same without that tree. What would happen after the parade? What do we light up? The boring bathroom lights of town hall?
I feel there is so much uncertainty in our world right now how nice to have something that anchors memories and tradition for everyone. I'm always so touched when those lights flip on and everyone oohs and ahs . you just feel small town America. What shame to take that away.
It's sad that people want to cut down a beautiful piece of nature to make something man-made more visible. Not everyone wants to live in a concrete environment. Why not make a natural sign in front to direct visitors to the public restrooms?
Please save that beautiful tree , !!! I have MANY good memories , my grand children have many memories of that Tree ,

Why cut down an iconic historic natural landmark to increase visibility for restrooms, when you could easily compromise and allocate the tree cutting budget to a bathroom sign budget. I reckon it's a lot cheaper, as well.
