This dam is no danger to anyone. The boy who died here was drinking when he was swept over. Leave the dam alone already. Attacking inanimate object because of peoples stupidity is stupidity at its best

Lexington needs this tourist attraction. It will leave a scar where the river used to stand. I hope that they think long and hard before making there final decision.

Beautiful River, enjoyed Kayaking when visiting Family, must be preserved & maintained for future generations of all species as nature is not to blame !

The dam is part of the Maury as much as the water that flows past its banks.

The dam isn't hurting anyone the way it is. If it is removed the college students won't be able to float the river drunk so they will just drive drunk and kill innocent people or there selves. What about the kids that catch there first fish there? And most importantly noone wants to see a ditch. If they tear the dam out they need to plant grass and trees for miles up the river.

Leave the dam as it is.

Hopefully clear heads will step in and stop this before a crime against nature is committed.

Jordan's Point dam creates a recreational resource enjoyed by many. Removal would change the landscape forever and impact all residents. Go fishing and leave the damn dam alone!

It is tragic that someone lost their life there. However, there are warnings before and at the dam. If the warnings are obeyed then incidents shouldn't happen. If anything put up more warnings or some sort of block before the dam. Taking away such a fun place from the locals isn't a solution to one incident. They don't close Smith Mountain Lake or anywhere else when something happens. This is part of Mother Nature not some ditch someone created. Save the Maury!

Why ruin something that makes Lexington beautiful? Stop taking away things from a town that already barely as anything already.
