The upcoming redevelopment of Princesshay will mean that 4 of our London plane trees in Paris street and Sidwell street may be felled. I am hoping that if we get enough signatures we can change the mind of the Exeter city council and those involved to move the trees to a new location rather than cut them down.
If we can build a multi-million pound complex, I'm sure we can move a few trees.

Update: Since the Crown Estate has recently pulled out - it now gives us more of an opportunity to help defend these wonderful trees.

I have been spending my mornings under these branches watching the light hit the leaves and thinking about how much history we stand to lose. The news of the Crown Estate pulling out has opened a real window for us to push for a better plan that keeps these trees standing tall.

Seeing this level of support for the trees on Paris and Sidwell street has been incredibly moving. It proves that our local community values these living landmarks far more than a quick redevelopment plan.

rooting for this campaign, especially as these trees are often nested in by local and migratory birds. Also considering the recent spate of unnecessary fellings around Exeter, including the chopping down of trees on the new St Sidwell's point leisure centre development site.
I am shocked at the prospect of these trees being axed and they also home roosts of Wagtails which rely on them at night especially in winter. People love to come and see this wildlife in the city
The beautiful tree opposite John Lewis is a roosting place for hundreds of wagtails, which are a welcome sight and sound when the nights draw in.
Preferably not moved anywhere but incorporated into the architecture. It was so shameful that the tree that once stood so gracefully between the junction of Bedford street and the High Street was hacked down leaving a dull space with no life in it, perhaps put one where it stood if you have to move it from Paris Street.
while there is a current programme to 'green' grey britain it seems such a shame that Exeter is becoming more and more granite grey -- see Queens Street, Guildhall Centre and Princesshay to name just a few.
In the run up to the UK hosting the COP26 Climate Conference next year we must demonstrate respect for all trees because they sustain life on Earth as we know it.
Please don't fell these trees! Tree nmbers are falling overall and this is a terribly backward step

Please move these healthy trees, as opposed to cutting them down. This is not an insurmountable task, so please factor it into the development.
