I’m all for saving natural habitat. It’s a disgrace what’s happening here. I don’t live in Lagmore anymore but I certainly wouldn’t want a landfill on my doorstep wherever I am.

We just have to look at the devastation caused to the Black Mountain also part if the Belfast Hills.... an utter disgrace and blight to the natural landscape!!!

The last thing that lagmore needs is more housing. U only has the one enterance and exit making it the biggest culdesac that i have ever seen. Yes i know that the demand for housing in the area is high but this should not come to the detriment of protected species. Unfortunately lagmore fall into the boundaries of Belfast water lisburn no longer wanted it and it would appear that it is far enough away from Belfast itself foe the council to genuinely care about the development of the area and the impact that it will have on the native species that were there way before the housing take bit Belfast city council people who origionally bought houses in the area did so because there were green spaces around them. No one want to live in a concrete jungle

Designated under BMAP as an Urban Landscape Wedge (ULW), Lagmore Glen serves as a vital amenity open space, green corridor and quality habitat, which is under serious threat from development. Teeming with a rich diversity of wildlife, including Pipistrelle bats, shrews, newts and narrow bordered Burnet moths, it would be an utter shame for this glen to be landfilled and built on. It would constitute a major loss not only in terms of biodiversity but to all the citizens of Belfast and beyond. Its just as important as Cave Hill Country Park or Belfast City Hall. What message are we sending to the world in the age of global warming, climate change and significant habitat/species loss, if we allow Lagmore Glen to become a dump site? Please sign the petition and support the campaign.
