The Penrith City Council finally backed down and scrapped their plans to close our rink. We proved that they cannot just bulldoze local culture to suit their own agenda. Keep your eyes open because we will be watching them like hawks to make sure they actually follow through.

HELP SAVE PENRITH ICE RINK

We the people of Western Sydney signing below are telling the local government (Penrith City Council) and the State Government (Member for Penrith, Honourable Stuart Ayres MP) that we want and need the Penrith Ice Rink to remain open.
The ice rink has been operating in Penrith for 20 years and has provided a home ground for many successful athletes from figure skating and ice hockey and it has been a host to hundreds of events and shows that entertained the local community.
Ice sports in Australia are growing both in numbers and popularity. Western Sydney has lost Blacktown ice rink followed by closure of Sydney Ice Arena in Baulkam Hills, leaving Penrith the last one standing. Penrith Ice rink hosts 6 clubs that would find it very hard to not only relocate, but to find available time at the other rinks in Greater Sydney. WE NEED TO KEEP THIS RINK OPEN!

I have been using this ice rink for so long that I am playing ice hockey tournaments. Now my parents will stop me from doing my passion because they say the Liverpool rink is to far. Please save the Penrith ice palace please
Big part of young people's lives growing up in a safe environment learn how to play ice sports. My kids grew up here, and saw them make friends they never would have met if it wasn't for this rink.
Penrith Ice Palace is a priceless community asset not only as a centre for sport but for its role as a social hub for our youth. If we want to get our kids off their stupid screens we need to be able to give them somewhere healthy to go.
My entire family train and play ice hockey at this rink. It would be such a loss if it were to close, and the other rinks would not be able to absorb the games, clubs or kids currently utilizing this rink.
As a player , coach and administrator in this sport for the last 40 years I have seen too many ice venues disappear taking away a venue for young people to participate in social skating and competitive ice sports. A place for young people to develop social Skills participation in local sports and grow as community leaders in the ice sports sector of western Sydney.
Save this place. We're a city of 5 million people, a global city .. and soon we'll have 3rd world, or non existent facilities.

If the government is happy to rebuild football stadiums, surely they can support the last ice rink in Western Sydney! Every sport deserves a chance!
