Having Lenape ancestry, my passion to save the naturalistic habitats on Burlington Island is of the upmost importance. Everything from the islands wildlife, to the earthen stability and the Lenape sacred sites, should be kept in it’s historical condition.

Keep the island as natural as can be, to honor the 1st people of this land, the Lenape People. No dumping any dredge spoils to this island.

Dredge soils have massive environmental impacts. Any activity must meet NJ's groundwater standards with regards to pollution found in spoils. These dredge spoils will also affect the turbidity of the Delaware, which will negatively impact the water quality and aquatic ecosystem.

I just watched a YouTube video about the Burlington Island because I wanted to know more about the history. I never imagined the history of this island. Knowing now that the Lenape Native Americans lived there it makes me realize how amazing the Burlington island really is. Although I’m 21 I can realize that the conservation of this island is very important in many ways.

It's hard to believe we can't come up with another solution than to dump this stuff in this incredible place. I want to add my voice to those who would prevent this tragedy.

I enjoyed kayaking on the lake and hiking the trails. This island should not have to endure dredge spoils again.
