This petition has been created to change New Jersey's draconian outdated firework laws. Currently no fireworks are legal in the State of New Jersey except those done by licensed professionals like myself. The fireworks that are currently banned in New Jersey are also known as consumer fireworks in which are fireworks that are specifically created and regulated for the general public to use. Sparklers, fountains and even party poppers are illegal to use in New Jersey by the general public and trained proffesionals because of General Statute Title 21 entitled EXPLOSIVES AND FIREWORKS a law that has been on the books since 1937 making it almost eighty years old!

Consumer fireworks consumption continues to increase in the United States while injuries continue to decline since 1976 when the federal government placed new safer restrictions on the current legal fireworks. What I am asking everyone to do is to sign this petition to bring back fireworks to New Jersey! The legislation that we are trying to pass would legalize sparklers, fountains and poppers in which are already legal in fourty seven U.S. states and keep explosives and aerials prohibited without a license.

I the writer and creator of this draft am a trained proffesional PyroTechnician who wants to bring fireworks back to the state of New Jersey by teaching safety instead of keeping an unenforceable law on the books that thousands of residents dont follow and in my honest opinion shouldn't have too!

FIREWORKS ARE AN AMERICAN TRADITION AND IT'S TIME WE BRING THEM BACK TO NEW JERSEY!
