Tell Congress we need safe products on our shelves!
Who has time to research every product in our shopping carts?  More and more studies show that much of what’s on store shelves isn’t safe, especially for our kids.

Our chemical safety laws need a facelift!
The current  Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was put in place in 1976 to oversee regulation of potentially hazardous chemicals.  Over three decades later, with over 80,000 chemicals to regulate, the EPA has evaluated only about 200 of them.

What’s in the Soup?
These chemicals in our everyday products can wreak havoc on our health.  Put together, they create a “chemical soup” that can lead to everything from cancer to asthma to obesity.

Pass the buck to the manufacturers!
Companies should have to prove the safety of chemicals in their products before they hit the market…not wait years for the government to test the products when they’re already on the shelves.  If companies want to profit from us, the products they sell us need to be safe from the start.

So start here:  sign our petition!

Help us tell Congress to pass the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011, which requires chemical companies to update outdated TSCA laws to demonstrate the safety of industrial chemicals and the EPA to evaluate safety based on the best available science.
With the CDC finding over 212 chemicals in the blood of almost all Americans, health information on the chemicals we’re all exposed to every day is essential to our families’ health.

What the Bill will Do:
The bill will accomplish 6 keys to better health for us all:
1.    Ensure EPA has information on the health risks of all chemicals.
2.    Require EPA to prioritize chemicals based on risk.
3.    Expedite action to reduce risk from chemicals of highest concern.
4.    Further evaluate chemicals that could pose unacceptable risk.
5.    Provide broad public, market and worker access to reliable chemical information.
6.    Promotes innovation, green chemistry, and safer alternatives to chemicals of concern.
