Hi SEO-Vietnam (SEO-V) family,

My name is Nate (Nhat Anh) Le, and I am currently serving as the alumni director for our organization. I am very interested in applying for our organization’s Board of Directors (BOD) openings, specifically in Alumni & Momentum Subcommittees. I am hoping that with your support (through your signatures), I will have the opportunity to be interviewed by SEO-V’s current BODs. I believe that my commitment to diversity and inclusion in my current position would be a complementary asset to the current BOD.

As our alumni director since January 2019, I have been committed to foster engagements between alumni around the world and between different classes. Under my lead, we kickstarted the Alumni Ambassador program to connect alumni reps in both inside and outside of Vietnam, in cities such as London, Boston and NYC. To further these engagements, I also worked directly with our Marketing Team to recruit fellows for Class of 2019 through alumni referrals, which increased number of applicants to SEO-V’s summer program by 38% YOY (340 candidates in 2018 to 488 candidates in 2019). Lastly, I led a 15-person team from afar to organize our 10-year anniversary gala, which hosted 120+ participants from all 11 SEO-V classes and other stakeholders in Saigon. It has been a rewarding journey for me, as I had the opportunity to connect and inspire SEO-V members both from the past and the future, which helped me to appreciate our Diversity and Inclusion within the community.

If I am chosen as a member of our BODs, I would continue to support our organization with the following two initiatives: Diversity and Inclusion to expand our impact to the rest of the world. For Diversity, as I had conversations with our alumni in NYC and London, I recognized our alumni’ interests to not only connect within our circle, but to those of our brother/sister organizations, SEO-USA and SEO-London. I strongly believed that these networking opportunities will help both organizations to develop a mutual cultural appreciation and knowledge exchange which will be beneficial for us as global citizens. As a member of the BODs, I would be ecstatic to work with our alumni reps and leaders from SEO-USA and SEO-London to foster these exchanges and enrich our mutual appreciation for Diversity.

Furthermore, Inclusion, particularly education equality is one of my passions. As someone who is privileged to have grown up in Hanoi and come to the US for education, I strongly believe in the value of education and education opportunities by merits. I want to help these young men and women from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds to get the opportunities they truly deserve. Our Momentum program is one of the channels to further this goal, and as a member of the BODs, I would love to commit my effort to help these young fellows to strive to be our country’s future leaders.

Personally, the opportunity to be a member of SEO-V’s BODs would give me a platform to grow my critical thinking, strategic view and thoughtfulness along with other Board members whom I greatly admired such as Ms. Linh Nguyen, Ms. Hanh Nguyen, Mr. Erik Jonsson, etc. (The list is not exclusive). My hope is that I would be able to grow beyond and contribute my effort to SEO-V’s mission, and expanded the organization’s impacts to pre-professional college students in Vietnam and alumni from around the world.

Thank you for your consideration! I am grateful for your support.

Updates

April 27, 2020

The current SEO-V leadership is still dodging a real conversation about the future of our board. I am tired of waiting for them to acknowledge the obvious momentum we have built together. We are forcing their hand and they will have to look at these signatures sooner or later.

I worked with anh Nate during the 2019 summer fellowship recruitment project. Anh Nate was one of the best team mates I ever met. He's dedicated, hardworking and supportive. I believe that anh Nate puts his heart in everything he does, and always tries his best. So, I'm voting for anh Nate!
