Help Make Recreation a Priority in Jackson Demonstration State Forest

These healthy forests are a public treasure just as they are. Timber harvests should not be permitted.

Thank you for your efforts! I'll benefit from them and more importantly - so will my kids.

I go to the Mendocino region to bike. Covid has made it clear how valuable outdoor recreation is.

I typically visit the Mendocino area with overnight stays 2 - 3 times per year for the express purpose of mountain biking in Jackson Demonstration Forest. If a significant number of trails are closed, I will travel to other areas instead.

Please preserve the beauty of this area

Forests are sacred and much more valuable while alive then when dead. Invest in our future and prioritize sane recreational and ecological uses of our forest home!

We’ve recently moved into the area after losing our home in the Camp Fire and have been looking forward to exploring the natural riches of the Mendocino coast, as we have in the Sierra. Losing that chance to logging is disheartening.

I’ve lived in Mendocino county my whole life and have grown up around the redwoods. Using it for logging when there are so few is so unnecessary

Mendocino trails are necessary for locals and visitors who travel to use them. The local economy benefits from the great trails in Mendocino. DO NOT DESTROY.

If we lose our wild and recreational lands, we lose our greatest treasure.

Save these lands for people to enjoy the outdoors- please!

People (like me) that live near or those that visit JDSF from afar enjoy the trails for biking and hiking which are more necessary now in the COVID than ever. It is apalling to know timber harvest will occur in immediate vicinity of the sensitive springs that provide water for the historic Mendocino Woodlands which should instead be protected. If there must be logging, do so in small areas at a time WITHOUT CLOSING the forest.

Jackson is a fabulous resource that is worth much more to our economy than the trees taken out. Please prioritize recreation.

This place makes our lives better on so many levels. We are so lucky to have it in our backyards.

I live and recreate near the Jackson Demonstration State Forest. In populated areas, I would like to see more recreational use and less logging except for fire prevention purposes.

I am a retired RN. My home is very close to Jackson State Forest and I regularly walk the trails and occasionally harvest mushrooms in the fall. I appreciate the treasure this forest is for our local community and visitors to our area. I humbly beseech you to NOT pursue this timber harvest plan as it will have a very negative impact on the quality of life this beautiful forest offers to our local community and our visitors.

Lets make this change so future neighbors and users of the forest for peace and sporting can have one less battle to organize for.
