All girls and guys should have the right to cheer. You should never turn a child away in middle school.

She deserves this opportunity! they would be lucky to have her on her cheer squad! Does she take p.e.? If so, does she get accommodations for it? If she does get accommodations for pe, then that should fall into her cheer as well I would think. good luck! Hope she wins!

Our job as adults is support the child in anything and everything that sets them up for success, not to shut them down from there possibilities! Go Maddie!

She's already proven herself so why should this be a problem.

As a step mom to a Downe syndrome daughter I know it's a very important piece that they are made to feel in the norm. Some have higher/ lower degrees of special needs than others. However you'd only wish you'd have done this sooner to allow her as an ambassador to the cheerteam and school. They have the biggest hearts and bring a smile to anyone they come in contact with. I urge you the school administrators to reconsider this as it could only bring the cheerleaders and school a positive light and outcome.

I believe that it is extremely important to include special needs children in activities so that it builds them up in life. There is no harm in allowing Maddie to be on the cheer team! It will show school spirit!! If you choose to deny her, it would show ugliness that should not be taught in school. Let's be proud of all children & include her on the cheer team.
Hope this helps. Good luck Maddie!!
