Help Maddie get the accommodations she deserves to Tryout for Middle school cheer

she deserves this more than anyone. it's ridiculous that they aren't trying THEIR best to get her on the team. they should want her just as much as they want someone with a double. i'm willing to do anything for her!! let's get her on this team!!!

As a tax payer who cuts a check to GISD; I was surprised to see this in the news. They promote that they are equal opportunity and inclusive to the community but are doing the exact opposite or picking and choosing what is covered under equal opportunity. It shows that as tax payers who don't have children in public school need to keep a better eye on news like this. Denying a child equal opportunity in any capacity is completely unacceptable.

it is not fair to not have the same chance and oppertunities, this should not have happened to the point when no accomidations would be made. you have shown great determination as a competitive cheerleader. i am so please to see that you will continue adding to your agenda. i am also a competitive cheerleader and 13 and proud you keep moving forward.

I have coached recreational cheer for almost 14 years now. I do have special needs on my teams. Not only are they a joy to the team but they are to a coaches heart as well. If you seen the smile on a special needs child go to a prep built stunt you may change your mind. It's priceless and something you will never forget. Let Maddie try out. Give her the accommodations a few days early to allow her to be ready. You won't regret it.

What does it hurt, to give accommodations, we accomodate all the time by strengths and weaknesses. Acceptance is what everyone wants and people with Down Syndrome are no different. Those that are blocking a dream for someone are no different than ignorance that is breeding throughout this country. Stop the ignorance!!!

I'm ashamed that a school (one I attended) would do this to a young student. By all means, allow her the accommodations she needs. Education is so much more than academics. What you are teaching her is she's not worthy or accepted. Please reconsider what you are telling her about herself.
