My daughter helped out with Madie's competitive team a few years ago. We know that Madie is a hard worker and full of spirit and any school would be lucky to have her on their team. Good luck Madie!!

As a Parent of a former GISD cheerleader that cheered all through middle school and high school, I see no reason that a special needs child should not get accommodations. Madison knows how to perform and would be a fabulous addition to any squad. Her spirit feels the room the minute she walks in the room.

This child needs to able to try out with all of the girls. Please give her a chance

Encouraging team spirit and school pride should be a priority for administrators. I hope GISD realizes the value of an inclusive program and takes the steps needed to bring the most enthusiastic and dedicated students into the program. Go Maddie !!!!

I've worked with disabled cheer athletes from around the world. There's absolutely no reason Maddie should not be presented with an opportunity to find adaptive means in which to participate in cheerleading among her peers. To whomever makes this decision, I pray you do the right thing. This is much bigger than cheerleading. No other concern in the academic world will outweigh the significance of this moment in time for her. And what a great opportunity for the school to show that common sense and compassion matter most on that campus.

Madison Thompson is an accomplished athlete. She practiced with the young ladies and gentleman at Cheer Athletics. She has gone to cheer camp in California and all cheer camps and workshops in this area. She has spunk and heart. She would be an asset to the team.

I hope she gets to cheer! I really don't understand how some people can be so cold hearted! Keep your head up Maddie!! You're beautiful!!

She should be able to cheer, it would build so much self esteem and in middle school i feel it's very important for her to be involved!

As a former GISD Cheerleader through elementary, middle, and high school I sincerely hope the school takes this into careful consideration. Allowing her to record the tryout cheer and have more days to practice is more than fair. It would be wonderful for all schools and districts to take into consideration how beneficial it is not only for the special needs students, but all students.
