Iran has been severely hit by the spread of the Covid19 pandemic.
Unlike other countries, besides struggling to contain the outbreak, Iran has to face the pressure of the US sanctions, which have seriously hit its economy and restricted Iran's ability to respond effectively to the virus.
"It is shameful that besides the lives lost to this deadly virus, extreme sanctions limit access to necessary materials and therefore kill even more Iranian people", as stated in The Lancet (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)30668-1/fulltext)
Therefore
we call on the UN Security Council and the USA to lift the sanctions
imposed on Iran and other countries in order to help them fight the
pandemic more effectively.
