After reading up on the Fijian Rugby Union team Autumn International tour to the Northern Hemisphere. l have found out that they are expecting to receive as goodwill match payments from the English RU approximately £400 each for their upcoming SELL OUT match this Saturday at Twickenham. The match itself is reported to be generating close to £10m for the English RU.
By the rule book England don't have to offer anything. Fiji asked for £150, 000 which was rejected but the England Chiefs decided that they would give £75,000. The information l was using came from http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c...
As l read in horror that once again the South Pacific teams not being offered anything like what their opponents are in hospitality or wages, it felt silly to sit back and just accept that's how it is. With no question.
Most premiership clubs through Europe are bolstered by Pacific Islander players and have contributed strongly to the improvements and entertainment of Northern Hemisphere rugby. At a club level and International level.
After being ignored at the International Rugby Awards this past Sunday after Fiji 7's team won the World Series and Olympic Gold in Rio. Perhaps l'm biased when l say what Ben Ryan and the Fiji 7's camp achieved was on another level to any other 7's team this year. Especially off the shoe string budget they are afforded.
It pointed out to me that panel of elite judges, the IRB and the English RU are way out of touch with the people, the hearts and the souls of the Pacific Island nations. These nations have unparalleled passion for the game, there will not be a day where these nations put the ball down due to being snubbed at Awards ceremonies or being under paid and lose interest in the game. They will still sacrifice the same and rugby will be played every day until well after sunset in every village, forever, for the love of the game.
We should help them. Reward them. Or at least knock on the door and ask the Rugby Chiefs to say thank you for training your whole life to get to International selection and coming across the world to show us your talents. TOGETHER we must start to make the change.
Give the boys more money.

The disparity between the revenue generated by these matches and the compensation provided to the visiting teams remains significant. I am currently compiling the feedback from those who have weighed in on this imbalance to present a formal inquiry to the relevant governing bodies.

This has been happening for ages and Pacific Islanders accept. Look at the way Northern Hemisphere team playing right know and they are perfoming well against South. Really sad few years ago Fijian top try scorer from League to Union on both Hemisphere still not even close top Salary players. NFL top wide receivers get gets lot of MONEY. Not Fijian
Sort it out, you make England look like a bunch of plonks. If you treat the Pacific Islands like a joke, the entire sport becomes a joke.

I wholeheartedly agree that the current situation is grossly unfair. The Fijian talent pool is always at "risk" of being depleted. As a big England fan I like to see strong competition. The current situation isn't helping that.
