Close the Greater Vancouver Zoo & Save the last remaining Animals

animals belong in the wild and not in a cage! they are not ours for entertainment! free those poor souls!

Animals in captivity is just plain wrong. Nothing else to it, really. Shut it down, along with all the other zoos in the world!!

Those who support zoos are clearly ignorant to the exploitation of the animals and the loneliness and suffering that they endure. Shut 'em all down. We should have protected animal reservations, not this type of gawking at caged sentient beings sh*t.

This is extremely upsetting to me: I've fallen in love with many of the animals at the GV zoo, and I like to think I've developed a vague, warm relationship with several, as they seem to remember me. I thought the zoo was doing well at educating the public, though it always bothered me that it was privately owned, that the enclosures were so small, and that heat-loving animals were living in northern north America. After being unable to visit for a long stretch of time, I went back and noticed that most of my familiar friends were missing or replaced. When I inquired of the keepers and staff, I was told none of this. Im hardly surprised, as I'm always suspicious of zoos, but I do feel very, very hurt. I won't be going there anymore now. It breaks my heart to think that a place I always took comfort in isn't what i thought it was, and I feel stupid and sad. With a heavy heart, I'll be signing this petition.

SAVE THOSE FUKIN ANIMALS

These people are completely uninformed. The only thing the Zoo has there are rescues, animals who were previously born in captivity and those that COULD NOT make it outside in the wild... Should they release the blind eagle? (who got that way hitting a building in Vancouver) Should they release the lion who was born and raised in someone's basement in Ontario, who knows nothing about the wild? (I could go on) Modern Zoos are not capturing and displaying animals like they did in the 1950s. They play an important role in a modern society. These specific animals would be dead if it wasn't for Zoos.

Close it for good!

The Vancouver zoo, along with every other zoo, is a terrible and horrific life that these stolen animals must suffer. It is not a welfare or rehabilitation centre, it is hell. It is created simply for profit and human entertainment just like the Circus. I have been to the Vancouver zoo and it was a horrible experience. Every animal looked sick and sad. The living conditions were awful. Not to mention the crazy weather changes we have that do not make it suitable for every animal. It is captivity, a disgrace.

Should have been closed a long time ago!!
