The EqualProtection Clause is part of theFourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The clause, which took effect in 1868, provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction "the equal protection of the laws"..

Protecting victims of domestic violence is top priority!

Victims should and need to be equally protected no matter what their ethnic background, gender, social class, demographics or circumstances.

The Dallas County Court Family Violence Division is refusing to assist victims of domestic abuse in obtaining Protective Orders, if they have pending criminal charges.

Forcing victims to have to apply for these orders Pro Se include high and costly fines, the inability to have documents served safely by a constable and in a timely manner and the likelihood of not being able to obtain an order at all.

Filing as a victim Pro Se prevents them from being able to obtain a criminal protective order, it is designated a civil order of protection which doesn't hold the same criminal penalties or requirements for the abuser.

It is not uncommon for victims of abuse fleeing from abusive relationships to already have limited resources. Criminal records included.

This is a complete injustice of the Dallas county court system and a direct violation of the 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clause for all citizens.

Help stop Dallas County from practicing "Selective Victim Discrimination" and help our voices be heard!

This current court policy poses a great risk to victims, their children, and the community.

This current Dallas County Court policy fosters the potential for victims of abuse to face detrimental consequences from their abusers and possibly even death.
