Pojoaque Pueblo sculptor George Rivera's 11-foot tall statue of Olympic Champion Billy Mills is ready to be cast in bronze and shipped to Tokyo for display during the 2020 Olympics. I support this effort to celebrate the 56th anniversary of Billy's iconic Olympic achievement and ask the Tokyo Olympic Committee to approve placement of the statute at the Olympic Stadium.

Mill's amazing finish in the Tokyo 10,000 is arguably a supernatural act caught on film. I hosted him in a speaker series in Oklahoma in 2006 and he is still all-class. Let's make it happen.

This statue will be an inspiration to all who view it in Tokyo. Having watched the Olympics live on tv when I was a child & seeing Billy coming from behind to win inspired me to take up running & I ran marathons & half marathons for over 30 years all over the world until my hip wore out. Billy's life is one of the greatest stories ever told!
Fond memory as a kid watching Billy Mills win at the Olympics and then 50+ years later to meet him in Pojoaque and now to have his statue dedicated in the future and created by an ex Santa Fe Boys Clubber who was my boss is amazing. Congratulations Mr. Mills and to you too George.
Billy Mills against diversity against odds,not favored by his own ran in borrowed shoes. Of course he should be honored. Love you Mr. Mills. You were and are a great advocate for Native Americans. ❤

Billy Mills is a true role model for Native Americans and has been an inspiration for others throughout his lifetime. His unexpected victory at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics seems to still be the most remarkable and memorable event of that beautiful games. Please allow placement of a statue recognizing that moment in time at the games on the 56th anniversary of that event.
