This is simply outrageous. Listen to Anthony. Respect his method of communicating. Using peripheral vision is common in autistics.

Every human being has a right to independence ... It is not up to others to deny that right.

I feel utter disparity. As a mum of an 18 year old it breaks my heart.

I hope Anthony will be provided with all the support necessary for him to be a happy and fulfilled man. We are all different but we are all equal.

It is important people know that with autism having no voice does not mean there is nothing to say.

Taking away a non-speaking person's means of communication shows the ignorance of the professionals at Redwood. As an Autistic person and parent of Autistic children (one being non-speaking who uses a communication device) I can assure lack of direct eye contact does not mean incompetence. Presume competence always, and give Anthony the respect he deserves!

this is a civil rights issue just as important as womens rights gay rights and the fight against apartheid. I have met Anthony this will be so hard for him.

No one should be forcibly medicated or have their communication methods taken from them without consent! So many autistic people and their parents aspire to independence, it's a hard struggle for many, and here the possibility of an independentn life is being taken away from someone who has managed it. Please take Anthony out of this facility and let him return to his previous life.

Professionals need to learn to value each person they support - every effort must be made to ensure all voices are heard!
