Hedingham Riverside Alderford Mill bridge
Currently there is no access from the public space Hedingham Riverside Walk onto the bordering publically owned Alderford Mill site. The boundary between the two sites is marked by a metal railing on the mill side and a narrow stream in a deep gully on the riverside walk side. This gully would need to be bridged to create pedestrian access. The Riverside Walk therefore ends before reaching the mill and Mill visitos cannot access the riverside. Beyond Alderford Mill - across the highway - is a public footpath called the Pauline Stevens walk. This passes Hulls Mill - another local landmark - further along the river. Opening up access from the Riverside Walk to Alderford Mill would integrate the three amenities creating a much bigger experience in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Previous applications to open up this access have been turned down. The authorities are urged to rethink and take immediate action to provide this important link in the local infrastructure. We, the undersigned, support the call for access between the two sites.
