I agree 100% with this petition. I have a boy hedgehog named Sebastion and I wanted to fly with him to visit my family and I don't want him to fly in the cargo area but with me where it is safe. He's small. They're all small. So I don't understand what's the problem.

I believe that just like cats, dogs, and other animals are allowed to travel around the world with thier owner by their side. So should hedgehogs, they're nocturnal, they dont upset others, they cant chew through things and theyre just adorable. If a cat or dog can do it, so should they.

Delta would not let my hedgehog whose name is hiccup board the airplane and ride in the cabin first class with me even though I had the paper from a licensed therapist stating he was my emotional support companion due to the fact that I experienced anxiety panic attacks when traveling and my fear of flying which this was going to be my first flight I was stopped when I was actually in the hallway to board the plane and was told he was not allowed in the cabin I was very distraught and could not make the trip that my sister had paid for it was too reunite our family that we haven't seen one another in 10 years my mother is not expected to be around much longer. It is absolutely ridiculous that they do not let such a harmless and quiet pet accompany you in the cabin.

Hedgehogs cannot fly in the cargo section of the plane. Bags get tossed around in the air all the time, and hedgehogs are delicate animals.

As a hedgehog owner i am absolutely amazed that hedgehogs are not allowed on most planes in the cabin whereas cats and dogs are ok! They are the smallest and noiseless animal i have ever seen and don't even cause allergies for most people. They dont even move all day, why cant they go on planes?

Hedgehogs are better travelers than dogs and cats as they make little noise and cannot chew through their cage. They are also extremely heat sensitive and will hybernate or die at too cold a temperature. This is why it is better for the pet and the airline as it will not be as liable for a deceased pet if the hedgehog can fly in the cabin.

hedgehogs are nocturnal so they will sleep the whole flight. They aren't rodents so they can't chew through their cages and they make no noise whatsoever if in their carrier. They are smaller than rabbits, cleaner than rabbits and quieter than rabbits (which WestJet allows in the cabin).

Hedgehogs should be given their basic rights on a flight. If they're in a carrier, that is zip tied, which you force the carriers in the baggage compartment to be zip tied regardless, there is absolutely NO possibility for them to be let out, and in fact hedgehogs cannot escape a carrier on their own! They are quiet, nocturnal, hypo-allergenic, they are not rodents either. Most cats and dogs are cause issues with allergies anyways. Hedgehogs would be the most ideal pet passenger and their carrier can fit under a seat. Not to mention, when stored in the baggage compartment which is ONLY 15 degrees Celsius, they can go into hibernation, which is FATAL to hedgehogs, that is not right. You would rather make people pay to store them with luggage which is much more stressful to them and the temps can KILL them, opposed to allowing them to be brought on with their owner, where they would feel safe, secure and have a guaranteed safe flight. I am appalled by this decision. I will not be flying anywhere in the future, until this policy has been changed.

These delightful little pets do not have the risks associated with the present 'cabin acceptable' pets, ie dander/allergies, shedding, odor, chewing, noise, disease, hyperactivity, etc.
The safest place for a hedgehog is in the cabin. To put a small, gentle animal in the cargo is unsafe and totally unnecessary.
We have a hedgehog, so we can confidently back up the petition.
Education and communication should solve this situation.

They are not harmful at all they can be put in a soft cage and are quiet. They are great pets!! Let them fly!!
