As a proud member of the Class of 2013, I hope and pray that President Newman will recognize his mistakes and proceed with new wisdom and humility. The Mount community as a whole deserves a public apology, and Rehm, Egan, and Naberhaus should immediately be reinstated (and also Dr. Murry if he has also been fired). Mount St. Mary's is an educational institution, and while I understand that President Newman may be trying to resolve a difficult financial situation, he needs to consider that all students, faculty, and staff members are people, not statistics. His power is not absolute, and he must allow the Mount Echo and all faculty members the freedom to voice concerns about the direction MSM is taking without fear of retaliation.

Both my husband and I are graduates from the Mount. With the things that have been occurring I don't know if I could send my boys there!

Public discourse plays an important role in both a democracy and an institution of learning. Hopefully, moving forward, the Mount community feels safe to participate in it.

When you see or hear an injustice - call it out!
I would have possibly been one of the bunnies. I graduated, and I now have a successful career. All students deserve a chance, and all voices deserve to be heard.
