As parents and teachers of the CW community, we recognize that the school is lacking a health education curriculum that meets the state’s Grade Level Content Expectations for K-8 Health Education. We expect full curricular plans to be in place for the 2020-2021 school year. The school may access community resources such as Botvin Life Skills Training and Kids Have Rights to meet many standards for free.

So many thing applicable to each age group. This isn’t just about teaching sex ed, it’s about protecting our kids and helping them to make good decisions and knowing when and who to ask for help. Starting kids with the talk of safe touch is sadly so important to too many young children. Also suicide conversation and knowing who you can talk to is extremely important to many kids as well. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for these topics to be taught considering it’s a funded program to the school, let’s keep our kids safe.

I talk with my children about a huge variety of health topics at home, but hearing the same topics at school will reinforce what they learn at home. I am disappointed and surprised that this is not already included in their curriculum.

I have always wondered why CW didn't offer health education. And I was deeply disappointed when my child was in 5th grade and the one male who was certified to teach the HIV material left, so the students never received the information and it was never brought up again. I think it's incredibly important for students to learn about their bodies, health, fitness, peer pressure...all those things that tie into health education. This has been my one big grievance with CW.

So important, I was informed this year that my 6th grader learned what he believes is health education from the middle school boys bathroom. Although entertaining and probably incredibly artistic, not educational.

Come on CW, health Ed is mandatory! You've been receiving state funds for it, teach it!! Our middle school students need additional education, those under Erin's Law, which is mandatory too. Let's do better for our students.

It's very important that our children learn about their health and their bodies. Health class is so much more encompassing than just anatomy it's important that our children learn about healthy habits like food and exercise, they also need to learn about good mental health and self care and the dangers of tobacco, drugs, alcohol and vaping. Public schools are teaching these important lessons and our children are getting left behind. This is the one area of education I am very disappointed in at Chandler Woods.

This definitely should be allowed. As a parent, I’d prefer the school to teach it.

It is important for students to be aware of healthy behaviors.
