as a serving paramedic of a total of nearly 27 years I'm shocked but not surprised ... I'm not a fan of the hcpc it has left many feeling threatened by everything we do ... Anyone can be struck off despite having served years ... What training do we get that's paid for in works time hardly any despite other health care professionals being offered course after course ... It's shameful

This paramedic is not the problem, the work load and how they are coded is. The HCPC should be discussing with the trust why they had not facilitated sufficient rest time during this mans shift!

As a paramedic who was qualified long before the HCPC was thought of, could someone please tell me, what good have they ever really done us? Nothing springs to mind.

I was horrified at the articles in the news about this. They all concentrated on the call being 'refused' not the system that now exists. Any member of the public would be concerned if the paramedic was too tired to react at the home! The members of the ambulance service have been under too much stress for too long. It's about time the public were made aware. Too much of what is happening in the Health service is not being accurately described by the media. This is one incident too far.

why have a work time directive? This paramedic had worked more than he should have with no break-as stipulated by the directive-yet got sacked.....are these directives to be followed or disregarded as and when it is felt like by the crews.....?

Mr Daly may not have attended this one patient, how many hundreds of pts have been denied medical care because he isn't on an ambulance or a fast response car?

Lorry drivers have to take mandatory rest breaks. But someone who has to make decisions about someone's life doesn't!! What would of happened if he'd gone out crashed his vehicle and killed some people, or the patient.
