absolute disgrace! If this was a mp working for 11hrs straight he'd claim thousands in expenses. Not that an mp would ever work without regular breaks. So why would someone responsible for another's life be expected to function after 11hrs. Hcpc need to get out on the road them selfs then judge others.

hcpc need to investigate this fairly considering the demands made on front line staff and the double edge sword we work on shaft after shift. staff should be supported for making decisions like this.

would you have been happy if this man had had an accident through fatigue and killed someone? A stupid decision at best!
As a paramedic I can fully empathise. Sometimes you are just too tired to consider yourself safe. If you make a clinical error due to fatigue ir have a crash then you are blamed for not being fit to do the job. If you refuse you are sacked - it's lose lose.

All too well i know that feeling of exhaustion. if operating heavy machinery it would be advisable to take a break... but if a persons life is at stake its ok?

This is BLATANT injustice and wrong. HOPC would have been quick enough to remove his registration if he had crashed or fainted due to a Low Blood Sugar. Caused by fatigue and failure to eat. So now they punish him because he wanted to ensure that HE WAS FIT to perform his duty.

Why are paramedics routinely pushed past the limit, surely these are the very people who need enough breaks in their days to be on top form. Wake up NHS, every other employer has rules about staff welfare, why not you?
