As a retired EMT through ill health there where days when we felt the same but control staff did get us a break but there was days when we were very near walking away sick.I wored for 34 year's and the last 10 year's saw a decrease in staff welfare, no other profession would get away with disregard for work time directives and driving hours.

When driving an HGV, there are strict rules concerning driving hours. Anyone who breaks the ruling can be seriously punished,as a breach of the ruling can result in a serious and probably fatal accident! Ambulance staff, whether drivers or paramedics also have lives in their hands. Tiredness causes lack of concentration, which can lead to mistakes, the outcome could be death! This person shoud be praised for realising the danger that he could have caused and chose the only option! The "Chair Drivers!" st in their opulant offices should get out on the "Front - Line" and see how the real world works!! This "Hro" should be re-instated at once, with a commendation for useing his common sense and possibly saving a life.

It had nothing to do with "he wanted to be off on time" or "he was near the end of his shift". It had everything to do with he had most probably bounced form job to job, driving on blue lights, and making some crucial decisions. If anyone on the HCPC panel feel they could perform to their optimum after 11 hours of battering and no break, then step up to the post and prove it can be done. Ruining this experienced paramedic's life for the sake of bullying, scaremongering and scapegoating is immoral and the HCPC should be ashamed!!

We all work so hard in this job, and for him to have the guts to say 'I'm too tired' was a big thing! Better he did that than worked on & made a fatal mistake! Big respect

A shocking slight on one of the most professional paramedics I've ever had the pleasure of working with. A wonderful person who over the 30 years service went the extra mile when caring for his patients. On this one occasion he was just to exhausted to give more. There is more in the back ground of this story that wasn't addressed. This in turn let Eddy to be a broken man. It was quoted once that 'if they can sack someone like Eddy we are all doomed ' . Thanks getting this petition started for all hard working medics out there.

I work with 2 ex paramedics who have left because of the situation within the ambulance service, different parts of the country and they had stories of others doing the same. It seems some are sending a message with their feet. Shame the hierarchy can't won't listen or interpret the message of the 'walkers'.

If we can recognise exhaustion I our patients then surely we are competent enough to see it in ourselves. Dalys stand against the LAS is one we can all sympathise with. Give him the respect he deserves.

we all accept that late calls come with the job...we are not robots..i have been in the LAS for 35 years and fully sympathise how Eddie felt..exhaustion and sleep deprivation are a form of torture...management need to hold their hands up and supprt its staff, just more evidence of bullying
