They deserve it just as much a doctor/nurse frontline workers do.. They are in contact with inmates and providing services!! Give them their hazard pay, they definitely deserve the appreciation!!

Mr. Fitzgerald:
I retired from the Allegheny County Bureau of Corrections as a Captain after 30 years in 2004. These correctional personnel risk their lives everyday. Added to this danger was the Chinese Virus.. You need to recognize these officers with a monetary reward, to show them a reward mechanism that they know that they know they are appreciated.

They already have a stressful job. They are literally in jail all day baby sitting those that have broken the law to add insult to injury they are not being shown they are appreciated during such a harsh moment in our history. It's ridiculous that this petition had to even be created in the first place. They deserve to a compensated, I can't imagine the awful air quality inside with many who could be infected. Thank them by paying them a hazard pay!

Take care of our correctional Officers. They wake up every morning and kiss their families goodbye not knowing if they are going to make it home at the end of their shift. Their administration treats them more like inmates than inmates get tested like inmates due to the micromanaging that goes on. My spouse is at work more than home due to so many forces because of pandemic. Not only that he is around covid positive inmates. THEY DESERVE HAZARD PAY! The positive inmates (approximately 25 positives) are on a housing unit with our officers. they should be isolated under medical care in the infirmary not on a unit with officers . Officers are not medical staff . HAZARD PAY FOR THEM . THEY ARE ESSENTIAL WORKERS!
