97217 I miss the days when we could stop by Safeway and mail a package (those gals were so sweet!) before loading up the cart. Yes, I realize Target has a grocery department but we *really* need a full sized grocery store on the island.

I don't understand not having grocery store on the Island. I know it would be well shipped by boaters, residents & hotel guest

Unfortunately, The City of Portland, and the thieves that had their way with Safeway, and the ridiculous waste of Safeway resources on the recycle center they were forced to build made it impossible for them to continue doing business. Hayden Island does deserve a grocery store, but one that can survive in the garbage political climate of Portland OR.

I am not in favor of a boutique expensive grocery store like Zupans or New Seasons

This is a necessity! We are in St. Johns and would use the island grocery store regularly. -Emilie 97203
