We, the undersigned, demand that the Department of Land and Natural Resouces (DLNR) form a true partnership with ocean recreation enthusiasts in the state of Hawaii.
Of late, public hearings hosted by the DLNR seem to be held to simply fulfill the requirement that there be public hearings before rule changes. While we can air our views at these meetings, it is becoming increasingly clear that the DLNR is ignoring us.
We demand a partnership in the rule-making process. We demand that the DLNR take a progressive step forward, evolve, and allow for the formation of public committees, with DLNR participation, for the purpose of shaping the future of access to and use of our ocean recreation facilities and resources.
Enough with these pretend meetings where nobody listens to a word we say. We live here and use these waters every day. Stop acting like you know better than the locals.

About time. Sick of being ignored while they just change the rules behind closed doors. Listen to the community for once.
