We, the residents of Clarksburg, and all other cities in West Virginia are signing this petition to show that we do NOT want the city of Clarksburg, West Virginia, or any other city in our state to allow the KKK to hold a meeting.
We do not agree with the hatred and racism that they stand for and what they represent.
That is not what we want our children to grow up around.
We believe in freedom of speech, but where do we draw the line? Since when has it become a constitutional right to spew hatred and racism?
The very ones that they hate so much are fighting and giving their lives for them, so that they have freedom of speech. But not at the cost of mis-treating and victimizing any one of our fellow man.
The current level of interest has triggered a follow up from local news outlets regarding our stance on city policy. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the city council to document our opposition ahead of the next assembly session.

My grandfather fought the nazis and he would be sick knowing these losers are trying to organize in our town. Get lost.

Freedom of speech isnt a free pass to harass people and spread bigotry. West Virginia deserves better than this.
