It seems like now a days ppl are afraid of our past or think our past is offensive for this politically correct world with all the taking down of historical statues like, Generals Robert E lee, Albert Johnson in Austin, Texas, and Stonewall Jackson in Baltimore, MD and so on. These statues were meant to remind us of our past so we can learn from our mistakes to make a better future not run from it. To not be allowed to at the very least document our history will eventually lead to our own destruction because "those who don't learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat the same mistakes"!

This is the hospital I was born at. And this has a very historic part of the mercy Community. I know it was a children's only Hospital in the women's-only hospital at some point in time. But I'm sure there's something we can do with the space do utilize it. Other than tearing it down.

Me and my boyfriend was just talking about the hospital last night he was asking me what it used to be and I told him riverside hospital. We talked about how cool it would be to go in the abandoned hospital and how it could be haunted it would be an awesome experience and I hope you guys are able to go in before they tear it down. I wish I could.

I worked at Riverside Hospital for 34years. I started as a Whitney aid and then became a LPN after graduating. I loved working there. Lots of memories- both good and bad. But,mostly good.

I was employed there from 1978 until 2002 and transferred to St. ANNE Mercy. I have very special memories and remember many of my patients I cared for during those years.

All 3 of my children were born there!
Most of my family worked there, from maintenance to my grandma in the daycare center that they had on site , which I also went to when I was little It's so sad to see it gone , it was always a nice hospital. There was a statement once that there were charts still there makes me wonder if mine is one of them.

Both my kids were born at Riverside Hospital how ever i spent every day for 2 months going back and fourth to visit my daughter who was born premature i was 25 weeks pregnant she was born May 2 1993 at 1 lb 12.5 oz and 13 in every nurse and dr was so good that i felt comfortable with her being there...
