HATE and RACISM MASQUERADING as ART in the HALLS OF CONGRESS..

Each year Congress has a competition for high school students to submit artwork depicting an American theme. 2016 theme was, "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave". Winner receives a college scholarship and has their art displayed in the Halls of Congress where all visitors, foreign and domestic can view. This past year, Congressman W. Lacy Clay, Jr. chair of this project, selected the work of student, David Pulphus. Seems nice right?

Well, the artwork depicts Police officers with faces of pigs, pointing their guns into mobs of black protestors who are holding signs saying, "kill cops". As visitors walk through the halls of Congress, including young children and foreign visitors, they see this artwork display which conveys the message of police officers as killers of Americans and police are racist pigs. THIS IS VERY OFFENSIVE to many visitors both American and foreign, including myself. Never should Congress be depicted as the halls of racism, bigotry or hate. Yet, Congressman Clay thinks this is the clear message of Congress as he continues to enforce keeping this artwork on the walls of Congress. Many Congressional leaders have taken this artwork down and Congressman Lacy Clay keeps putting the artwork back up and suggest legal action against those that take it down.

America, I ask for your support in sending a reply and CLEAR message to Congressman Clay that says, America is NOT a nation that will stay divided by HATE, RACISM or BIGOTRY nor are these themes the central values that Congress should be emulating. Time for positive change in our nation for ALL AMERICANS!!! PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION...Stand up as Americans that support those that defend and protect.
