Harry Potter6 Release Date moved back to Nov.21,08
As of August 15,2008 millions of Harry Potter fans from all around the world were shocked when news surfaced on the internet that WarnerBrothers had Delayed the movie release date for the most anticipated Sixth installment in the Harry Potter series from November 21,2008 to July 17,2009. Alarn Horn, President and Chief Operating Officer of Warner Bros., said, "Our reasons for shifting \'Half-Blood Prince\' to summer are twofold: we know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers\' strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films--changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move \'Half-Blood Prince\' to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer." -Veritaserum.com Not only is this an act of greed but a huge dissapointment to all of the Harry Potter fans around the globe. Before this news had surfaced WB had already announced an official release date and a trailer was already in theatres. All of this is WB way of grossing more money for the film and not wanting any extra competition, seeing as Twilight comes out in theatres around the same time period.
